Sands Beer

I had this on a vacation with my wife in 2010 to the Bahamas and after 2 house moves and a baby I found some notebooks with beer reviews in them plus all the napkins and scraps of paper I had written down some tasting notes.(that sounds fancy) So Sands Beer this brewery started in 2007 by Jimmy Sands who had a dream of owning a brewery in his mother’s native land of the Bahamas. In association with BREWTECH the brewery was built on Grand Bahamas Island and was originally only to be distributed on that Island. It soon back a national brand found throughout the Bahamas. The name was picked after a public competition and the 11 winners were to split a 3,000 prize. The owner stepped in and gave each $500 dollars instead.

When I was in the Bahamas there was basically 3 choices in beer on the resorts and in the market outside of the Radisson. Kalik Kalik.(Review Coming I found it to) Sands, and Heineken. The Sands was my favorite Heineken is available everywhere and Kalik Kalik was pretty good. I can tell you I had a lot of both of these they both had distinct tastes from each other.

Sands is a %5.3 abv Lager with a pale golden colour and won an Hamburg Brewing award in 2007 it has a slightly fruity aroma with a clean crisp taste with a little bit of a citrus flavour creeping in with a smooth finish and a little bitter aftertaste.
