TsingTao

Ok I’ve always liked TsingTao but I’ve always had 1 small problem with it. For some reason it gives me the worst gas I’ve ever had. I always try to have it when I make or order Chinese food since it fits. I’ve been told it has a hint of lemons to its taste but I like Kim Chi and other spicy foods so I’ve never been able to notice it. What I do notice is that it’s a %4.5 lager with a bit of a hoppy taste and a slightly bitter finish. It goes well with Chinese food and most North American foods also I have found that I don’t like the combination with General Tao chicken not sure why they are both good on there own but together I don’t like the taste but that’s just me I checked. It’s brewed by the Qingdao Brewery in Shandong province. Originally a German owned brewery to brew traditional beer for westerners in the country at the time it was taken by the Japanese during WWI, after Japan’s defeat in WWII it was turned over to a Chinese family which was involved with it under the German’s. It was nationalized in 1949 by the People’s Republic of China. In the early 90’s it was again privatized Anheuser-Busch currently owns approximately %27 of TsingTao; so in short for a German brewery in China that became a Japanese brewery in China. That became a Chinese family brewery in China which became a Communist State run brewery in China. Which is now a privately run brewery in China that is partially owned by a German company again that also has %7 owned by a Japanese brewery Asahi in China.(Asahi is in Japan but I am keeping the flow)

They brew pretty good beer I am the recipe over the years has changed and it would have to with that many captains at the helm but overall the results are good it tastes definitely like an Asian beer but you can tell it has roots in European brewing methods.
