Shock Top
I first had Shock Top in Florida on a vacation to the Bahamas in 2010 I was waiting in Ft. Lauderdale and I saw this beer everywhere and naturally assumed since it had an orange on it was a local beer. I believed that this was a beer from Florida for years until I found out they are actually based in St Louis, Missouri and it was being brewed by a small subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch as a seasonal beer and a way for them to get into the craft beer market, but it was promoted in a way that a large national brand would have been. Anheuser-Busch is the largest brewing company in the world and I have already gone over its history in a few other older reviews but I could recommend a book on it check out Bitter Brew: The Rise and Fall of Anheuser-Busch and America’s King of Beer by William Knoedelseder.

The Beer itself:
It’s a Belgian Style Witbier with a mild citrus flavour to it very refreshing on a hot day while not making you feel heavy or full. Holds a good head has a nice golden colour to it. I didn’t get a much of the citrus scent when I drank this but overall I found it a clean, crisp and refreshing beer to have when it was 37 degrees Celsius out and pairs well with any kind of BBQ.
