Sol Beer

Ok been putting trying this beer off since the freezer incident I have always liked Sol but in the “The things that make you go hmmm” Blog I had hit a wall with Sol basically it was a wall of fear. Sol was originally available in the 1890’s in Mexico, brewed by Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery when it comes to the podcast I am so gonna butcher that name. Anyway they produce beers such as Dos Equis and Tecate founded in 1890 by Jose Muguerza in Monterrey. During the Mexican revolution the breweries family backed the wrong horse and ended up fleeing to Texas. Which has to this day been a strong tradition in the Mexican culture, I’am so getting a bunch of angry emails on that one. They eventually got the brewery through Russian and American diplomatic intervention. On January 11, 2010 Heineken announced that they will be acquiring the parent companies that own Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery.

Ok the beer

It’s a %4.5 lager like Corona it really goes well with a lime and TexMex food. Its very smooth and has a nice clean and crisp taste with a hint of citrus in it. It has a pale golden colour with a pleasant aroma. I would definitely try it out. I got another 6-pack and again tried to freeze a bottle in someone else’s freezer and again no ice the bottle had a wack of frost on the outside but the contents didn’t freeze. If you can past this it’s a very good beer and I will continue drinking it this summer. I am told there will be a Sol Lime out next year so there is definitely going to be a comparison between Sol with a lime and Sol lime when it comes out this summer.

Country:          Mexico

President's Choice Cerveza

PC Cerveza

Ok I got a request to review PC brand Beers I was warned that I may not like them and the person did say that I could completely bash them since she didn’t like them either. So here we go. I bought a tasters pack of PC beers most through the pick you own mix packs at some of the walk in beer stores. I got through 2 of the cerveza’s and really didn’t like them I figured maybe it was a bad batch since it tasted like a spunk sandwich that had been garnished week old mayo left in a parking lot. Well I went and bought 1 bottle at another beer store on the other side of town checked the batch number and this one didn’t taste like it at all it was worse. This one tasted like well I won’t ever say; I said that my expectations are low for this beer. In fact to fall short of them may cause a huge depression that would require clinical treatment. Well I was wrong this beer went straight through the earth and has kept on going hopefully never to return into the wastes of space. I tried one of the others the lager I think got 2 sips into it and poured it out and disposed of the rest of the pack. I was going to do a full set of reviews but what I tried was simply undrinkable and I can’t see the rest getting any better. On checking on who actually brews this I have found 2 answers, according to the beer store website it is brewed by the White Water Brewery which is a well known brewery in Northern Ireland which has thrown me for a loop. The other possibility it the Brick Brewing company out of Waterloo, Ont., Canada. Which again throws me for a loop but not one as big as Ireland since I have a love hate relationship with that brewer I like Red Baron and Laker as the next review is going to show. But dislike most of there other beers. I spent a couple hours checking and still can’t find a straight answer.
