Rickard's White Ale

So after a bit of a hiatus the reviews are coming back.

Rickard’s White Ale is a %5.4 unfiltered wheat ale with some serious hints of citrus. It has a clean crisp taste with little or no aftertaste to it. It has a bit of a sweet fruityness to is that is pretty nice. It goes very well with seafood and it is supposed to be a good replacement for wine to complement a meal. Overall it’s a pretty good beer and I would definitely give it a try.

Bavaria of Holland Light

Ok this is going to be short since I’ve done the history of the brewery already for this company. Bavaria Light is a %4.0 lager that is smooth, crisp tasting and refreshing. Being a light beer it is a little watery but not overly such. Basically like Bavaria regular its cheap it comes in Tall Boys and its everywhere and it will get you there. That’s basically it unfortunately. This will also be the podcast beer this week since I don’t have anything else in the apartment at this time and I used the Maclay’s for the rabbie burns day podcast on Monday.

Miller Lite

Ok Miller Lite is probably one of the most well known light beers in the world it used it have the number one spot until Bud Light beat it down to number 2. With a combination of TV commercials, advertising, celebrity endorsements and a market saturation plan that made even the most jaded marketing directors in the world scream enough until there throat were raw and voices gone. Then Bud went ahead anyway since no one was saying anything anymore. Miller Lite has a pretty interesting history to it was pretty much the first light beer to hit the markets, originally called Gablinger Diet Beer and no I didn’t make that up. Which then became Meister Brau Lite in the 1960’s, Miller re-launched the brand as Lite beer from Miller in 1973 in certain areas. The Miller Lite name came around shortly after and was heavily marketed with celebrity endorsements and trying to get a Macho Man presence to it. It’s a %4.0 Pilsner style lager, for a light beer it isn’t bad and has a clean crisp taste. It’s really refreshing on a hot day but this being Canada and the first blizzard of the year is currently hitting us in Ottawa it still makes you wish summer were still here. It is really carbonated I’ve found and takes forever to go flat so that’s a bonus. Nothing in this beer really stood out taste wise so test it out and see for your self.

Labatt's Blue

Ok Labatt’s Blue has always had a special place in my heart. It is the beer my parents drink and it was the bought I was brought up on. It’s been the big beer in Canada since the railways opened the west and it was the only brewery that didn’t switch hands after the prohibition. Labatt’s Blue is a %5.0 Pilsner and has supported the Winnipeg Blue Bomber’s a CFL team (This info is for the none Canadians). This is actually where it got its name. They also owned the Toronto Blue Jay’s. Labatt’s also can be attributed in part to the finding of Pamela Anderson first appearing on TV wearing a Blue Zone crop top spotted by a bored cameraman at a BC Lions game and the fabled Blue Zone Girl posters were born. So this beer has had a rich history in Canada and has given us a few things to be thankful for. Ok back to the beer. As I said it’s a %5.0 Pilsner with a nice golden colour a fruity aroma. A slight taste of hops perfect companion with almost all junk food and bar snacks.

James Ready Original Ale

James Ready Original Ale

James Ready as I have stated in the past has been a friend during good and bad times in my life. I don’t think I’ve ever made a more alcoholic statement but I’am sure it sill not be the worst over my lifetime. James Ready original ale is a %5.0 Ale with a refreshing taste. A little hoppy but smooth and clean I found. It’s pretty good with corn and seafood. I haven’t mentioned the brewer origins or where its made since I covered that in the James Ready 5.5 review. It’s a fine member of the ready family though
